ActivateASU Signs Six Student-Athletes To NIL Deals Using Local Business Approach

ActivateASU

Tempe, AZ - (April 14th, 2023) ActivateASU, an Arizona State University focused NIL collective formed at the start of the new year, has announced six NIL deals with ASU student-athletes in the last six weeks.

Taking a local business approach, Activate has built relationships in the community with people interested in sponsoring a student-athlete through an NIL partnership. Through word of mouth and social media, athletes interested in working with a business reach out and are matched based on their interests and values.

Once a match is made, the group introduces the two and leaves them to come up with a deal. When a contract is signed, Activate helps both parties understand compliance policy, reporting requirements, and helps with promotion of the deal through media interviews, social posts, and podcast appearances.

“The local business community has been clear with us, they’re willing to step up in the NIL space when it’s transparent and there is a direct one-to-one relationship. As we continue to pair student-athletes with these businesses, I think that’s taking shape in a tangible way.”, Executive Director Peter Boyle.

ActivateASU has helped student-athletes sign NIL deals from a variety of sports, including football, softball, and swim & dive. These deals may include cash considerations, product offerings and discounts, or be a traditional influencer agreement.

“Activate ASU helps because a lot of student-athletes want to get involved but they just don’t know how to. A lot of people support Sun Devil Athletics from top to bottom, but they don’t know the right people to get involved,” said offensive lineman Ben Coleman.

Softball star Jazmine Hill added “I’m letting everyone know that I’m where I’m at today because of Activate ASU. I keep telling my teammates, ‘Why don’t you just reach out to them because you never know what opportunities you may get from the people at Activate ASU.’”

ActivateASU plans to continue to match athletes from all sports with business owners who want to be able to directly track where their investment is going. Boyle believes there are NIL opportunities throughout the valley for student-athletes regardless of the sport they play.

“We have world class athletes across all sports here in Tempe, and each of them deserves recognition and support. We believe the last six weeks have been just the beginning of what we’re doing in the NIL space. Local businesses want to get involved and this way of doing things takes the scary out of it, it eliminates the unknown. When you have a successful match, we’ve seen incredible bonds being formed that will truly create Sun Devils for life” said Boyle.
