Fordham Athletics and The Brandr Group Launch Group Licensing for Student-Athletes
NEW YORK – Fordham University Athletics and The Brandr Group (TBG) have established a group licensing agreement for student-athletes competing across all of the school’s varsity teams. This partnership will enable Fordham student-athletes to profit from their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) using the school’s official trademarks and logos.
"We're thrilled to be working with The Brandr Group to further bolster our student-athletes' ability to profit off their name, image and likeness," said Director of Athletics Ed Kull. "Since the advent of NIL, we've been committed to helping our 500-plus Rams maximize their marketability in every way imaginable within the confines of NCAA guidelines through a variety of different resources. This agreement with Brandr is the latest step in making sure that our student-athletes are continually at the forefront when it comes to NIL."
TBG will support the collective use of student-athletes' NIL in licensing and marketing programs, facilitating opportunities on behalf of the student-athletes, while not limiting individual NIL rights. All student-athlete participation is voluntary. Potential licensees interested in learning more should contact Jim Neish at TBG.
TBG, a brand management, marketing and licensing agency, will manage and administer the program while creating licensing opportunities on behalf of the student-athletes. With decades of collective management experience for some of the world's largest brands, TBG also manages group rights programs for the NFL, NBA and MLB players associations in the college space.
Products combining team logos with player names and numbers have accounted for a significant portion of licensed merchandise sales in professional sports for decades, and this program provides the same opportunities for collegiate student-athletes.
“Group licensing agreements are creating opportunities for student-athletes to profit from their NIL, and we look forward to working with Fordham Athletics to develop a program that will provide these same opportunities for its student-athletes,” said Rick Perko, Vice President of Program Development at TBG. “Through this partnership, Fordham student-athletes will have the ability to financially benefit from co-branded sponsorship and merchandising elements. This will also provide Rams fans with new ways to show their support for their favorite players.”
Fans can expect to be able to purchase official Fordham merchandise, including team jerseys with the name and number of Rams players who have joined the respective group licensing program, once TBG enters into agreements with applicable school trademark licensees.
