The funds will provide NIL opportunities for Boston College student-athletes in 2025.

BOSTON (THUR, DEC 19, 2024) – Friends of the Heights is thrilled to announce the successful completion of its end-of-year giving campaign, Heights of Giving, more than doubling its ambitious $1 million goal in just three weeks. Thanks to the incredible generosity of Boston College supporters, Heights of Giving brought in a total of $2.4 million! This remarkable achievement will significantly expand Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities for Boston College student-athletes in the upcoming year.

“When we needed assistance, so many members of this incredible community answered the call,” said Friends of the Heights General Manager Tom Devitt. “I especially want to thank BC’s Chairman of the Board John Fish for working so hard on behalf of our students. Our own board members as well as development veteran Jim Paquette played pivotal roles in the success of this initiative. The goal was set at the start but shattered at the end.”

The campaign, which ran from November 22 through December 15, matched every dollar of the first $500,000 raised with backing from the Friends of the Heights Board of Directors–Brian Tusa, Joe Popolo, Sam Raia, Danielle Molinaro, and Scott Mutryn. Boston College Chairman of the Board John Fish and Athletic Director Blake James continued to show their elite support of Friends of the Heights in backing this initiative.

“The “why” behind giving to Friends of the Heights is simple,” says Board President Brian Tusa. “Supporting our student-athletes helps our teams. Helping our teams helps Boston College. The community’s backing in this case helps us greatly in places like the football transfer portal.”

In 2024, Boston College student-athletes from 10 athletic programs contributed more than 2,000 hours working in the community, as they partnered with 35 local nonprofit organizations. With the funds raised through Heights of Giving, Friends of the Heights will continue to support and empower student-athletes to engage with the community while pursuing excellence both in and out of their athletic pursuits.

Friends of the Heights extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the Heights of Giving campaign. This generosity directly benefits Boston College student-athletes, ensuring their success in academics, athletics, and community engagement.
