(LAS VEGAS) February 7, 2024Friends of UNILV, the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) collective for UNLV’s student-athletes, is proud to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day with amplified efforts to provide NIL support for UNLV female student-athletes in two additional sports: golf and volleyball, in addition to the collective’s continuing support of women’s soccer and basketball. Friends of UNILV will now be actively working with four UNLV women’s teams, continuing to bolster its support of the university’s female athletes in 2024 and beyond.

“The women in our programs have accomplished some amazing things here at UNLV, but we’re even more excited to see the impact they have in our community,” said Shayne Odum, General Manager of Friends of UNILV. “When these young women are given the opportunity to serve their community, its people, and its businesses, they always go above and beyond. They are a true asset to Vegas culture, and we’re excited to get them more NIL opportunities.”

Friends of UNILV’s commitment to women in college sports and at UNLV is reflected in their most recent partnership with Palms Casino Resort, a partner that is aligned with this mission and is supporting the $150K Half-Court Madness initiative that is raising funds for both men’s and women’s basketball student-athletes.

“I’m so proud of everything our team has been able to do on and off the court this season thanks to NIL,” said Lindy La Rocque, UNLV women’s basketball coach. “Something special is brewing in Vegas for our female athletes, and I’m excited for more Lady Rebel student-athletes to feel the support of Friends of UNILV and the Vegas community.”

Friends of UNILV launched in the summer of 2022 to provide much-needed and well-deserved NIL opportunities to the hard-working student-athletes at UNLV. Since then, the collective has onboarded four complete UNLV women’s teams and three men’s teams.

There are three primary ways to support the Friends of UNILV collective and female student-athletes at UNLV:

  • Donations: Make a tax-deductible donation to Friends of UNILV through a partnership with the BPS Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit. Student-athletes will partner with a local nonprofit to work on charitable causes and commit to community service hours.

  • Membership: Become a member of Friends of UNILV and receive exclusive member benefits, like meet-and-greets with student-athletes, autographed merchandise, and more.

  • Corporate Sponsorship: NIL allows local and national sponsors to partner with UNLV student-athletes for endorsement deals, marketing campaigns, appearances, and other projects.
