TCU Athletics and The Brandr Group Launch Group Licensing for Student-Athletes

The Brandr Group

FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas Christian University (TCU) Athletics and The Brandr Group (TBG) have established a group licensing agreement for the university’s student-athletes covering all the Horned Frogs’ 22 sports. This partnership enables TCU student-athletes to profit from their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) through a number of opportunities that will be co-branded with the school’s official trademarks and logos.

“In our new era of Name, Image and Likeness, The Brandr Group is the perfect fit for us to form an NIL partnership to financially support our student-athletes, enhance their personal brands and increase the services we provide them, including use of our official TCU trademarks and logos,” said Jeremiah Donati, TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. “Our fans will also play a pivotal role in this unique partnership as all purchases of co-branded product directly provide our student-athletes with a portion of the royalties.”

TBG will support the collective use of student-athletes' NIL in licensing and marketing programs, facilitating opportunities on behalf of the student-athletes, while not limiting individual NIL rights. All student-athlete participation is voluntary. Potential licensees interested in learning more should contact Kathleen Melvin at Kathleen.Melvin@tbgusa.com.

TBG, a brand management, marketing and licensing agency, will manage and administer the program as well as create licensing opportunities on behalf of the student-athletes. With decades of collective management experience for some of the world's largest brands, TBG has also managed group rights programs for the NFL, NBA and MLB players associations in the college space.

Products that combine team logos and player names and numbers have accounted for a significant portion of licensed sports merchandise sales at the professional level for decades, and this program provides collegiate student-athletes with the same opportunities.

“TCU has a rich tradition of excellence in athletics including last year’s exciting run to the college football national championship game, and we are thrilled that they are joining our family of partner schools from the Big 12 Conference,” said Wesley Haynes, TBG CEO. "Through this group licensing agreement, Horned Frogs student-athletes now have the ability to monetize their NIL through co-branded opportunities across TCU’s portfolio. The passionate TCU fan base will also benefit with new ways to engage with their favorite players.”

Official TCU merchandise, including team jerseys with the name and number of players who have joined the respective group licensing program, are available now through the TCU Campus Store, its official athletics retailer, with more products and athletes available to come.
