Zags Collective Launches “Match Madness” Fundraiser Ahead of Gonzaga’s Men’s and Women’s Sweet Sixteen Matchups
Fueled by a generous corporate sponsor, Zags Collective’s Match Madness will see all incoming donations matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $200K.
SPOKANE, WA. (March 27, 2024) – Zags Collective, the NIL collective that serves student-athletes at Gonzaga University, announced today the launch of the “Match Madness: Gonzaga's $400K Challenge” NIL fundraising campaign. The fundraiser kicks off just two days after Gonzaga’s men's and women’s basketball teams both earned spots in the NCAA March Madness Tournament’s Sweet 16 and is fueled by a generous corporate sponsor who will match all incoming donations up to $200K. The collective’s $400K goal will serve to support and uplift current and future Zags Basketball student-athletes at an elite level with increased NIL opportunities.
“There’s nothing more representative of Gonzaga culture than what our men’s and women’s basketball programs have been able to accomplish this year and in years past,” said Chris Standiford, Athletic Director at Gonzaga University. “As we celebrate their return to the Sweet 16 and look to our future, it’s clear that it’s never been more important for us to uplift the Zags Basketball student-athletes who have such a positive impact on Gonzaga and our community. In the new age of NIL, it takes a village to make this happen, and right now we’re presented with an amazing opportunity thanks to a generous corporate sponsor who’s made the Zags Collective Match Madness possible. I’m calling on every Zags fan to have a stake in our teams’ success by donating to the Zags Collective today.”
Zags Men’s Basketball has made the Sweet Sixteen a record nine years in a row, and the women’s team has capitalized off a great regular season with a successful run in the NCAA Tournament. Zags Collective’s Match Madness celebrates this success and the rich history of winning at Gonzaga University.
“This is a chance for any and every Zags fan to double their impact in a very short time on this Gonzaga program and the Zags programs of the future,” said Corey Kispert, former Zags Basketball student-athlete and current Washington Wizards player. “Our student-athletes need the same support that any other top-level NCAA program has available, and this is an incredible chance to have a lasting impact on Gonzaga.”
Zags fans, supporters, and alumni can participate in the Zags Collective Match Madness: $400K Challenge by heading to zagscollective.com to make a contribution that will be matched dollar-for-dollar from now until Zags Men’s Basketball tip-off against Purdue on Friday.
