NC State Student-Athletes Pledge a Portion of NIL Earnings to Support Disaster Relief Efforts in Western North Carolina
The student-athlete-led initiative will financially support Samaritan's Purse and their efforts to assist those in need throughout the High Country of North Carolina.
Raleigh, NC (October 1, 2024) – One Pack NIL, the NIL Collective for NC State student-athletes, is proud to announce that 48 NC State student-athletes have pledged to donate a combined $4,635 of their NIL earnings to Samaritan’s Purse to support the on-going disaster relief efforts for Western North Carolina following the destruction of Hurricane Helene.
“This idea originated from our student-athletes asking how they can help our neighbors in need,” said Chris Vurnakes, Executive Director of One Pack NIL Collective. “This initiative speaks to the culture of NC State, the leadership of our programs and the values of our student-athletes. This is truly NIL for good.”
Last week Hurricane Helene tore through western North Carolina, dumping extreme rainfall (up to 2 feet) and causing terrible flash flooding. Some parts of the area are in ruins. Samaritan’s Purse is providing relief in the mountains of Watauga County, North Carolina—home to Samaritan’s Purse international headquarters in the town of Boone. The town and surrounding communities have been hit particularly hard with toppled trees, flooding, road damage, and a lack of power and water.

This gracious pledge is not the only support Wolfpack student-athletes are providing to our neighbors to the West. Davin Vann (Football) is leading the charge as his family's company has partnered with Wolfpack Athletics to collect necessary items for those in need.
