SWARM’ing the Community – a Week of Service and Engagement
Sponsored by Elite Casino Resorts and hosted by Iowa Swarm
Iowa City, Iowa – Elite Casino Resorts is proud to sponsor the second annual SWARM’ing the Community, a week of giving back in partnership with Iowa Swarm to serve area nonprofit organizations. Multiple community service events will take place throughout the week of October 23rd and will allow Iowa student-athletes to meet and engage with the community.
“Elite Casino Resorts gives back to the communities we serve as part of our core values. Our Eastern Iowa community is better because of Iowa Athletics, and we are proud to support the student athletes and our local communities by sponsoring SWARM’ing the Community Week,” said Dan Kehl, CEO of Elite Casino Resorts.
The week is set to commence on Monday, October 23rd, with one of the Iowa City elementary schools taking part in their Community Cares program. Athletes will be present to welcome students as they arrive at school, fostering positive mentor connections.
The SWARM’ing the Community week will continue with the follow additional service events:
Lunch deliveries through the Horizons Meals on Wheels program which helps older adults and persons with disabilities meet their daily nutritional needs through delivery of hot, fresh meals.
After School programs in Iowa City and Solon schools with Big Brother Big Sisters of Johnson County – meeting and connecting with the youth from the school who have been matched with an adult mentor.
Riverside Casino & Golf Resort will host Swarm athletes at their events center as they work with United Way of Washington and Johnson counties participating in literacy kit compilations for early elementary school students. Literacy Kits are distributed to early elementary-aged children through the highest percentage of poverty schools, summer lunch programs and service agencies.
“This is an exciting week for Swarm and I look forward to seeing the impact our athletes will make within a number of local charities,” SWARM CEO Brad Heinrichs says, “it is wonderful to partner with Elite Casino Resorts this year and expand our community outreach with an organization who places such high importance on service to local charities and giving back.”
Additional events taking place surrounding the SWARM’ing the Community Week include America Reads for Linn Mar Community Schools, Big Brothers Big Sisters Halloween Tailgate, Walcott K-8 school visit, and Iowa Giving Crew Operation Give Birds Campaign.
