STORRS, Conn. – The Brandr Group (TBG) and UConn Athletics today announced the UConn Basketball Legends Alumni Program featuring jerseys and other apparel for UConn men’s and women’s basketball legends including Sue Bird, Donyell Marshall, Rebeca Lobo, Chris Smith, Emeka Okafor and Maya Moore. Additional members of the men’s and women’s UConn basketball program will be added in the future.

Fans can purchase replica versions of the jerseys that each of the ‘Legends’ wore during their historic careers at UConn including – the vintage away jerseys that Emeka Okafor wore during their 79-78 Final Four win over Duke in 2004, or Chris Smith’s replica that he wore when he was named the Big East Championship MVP in 1990.  Rebecca Lobo’s collection is highlighted by the replica she wore as part of the 1995 UConn Women’s National Championship team.  Fans of Donyell Marshall can own a replica version of the jersey he wore when he was named the 1994 Big East Player of the Year.  Sue Bird’s jersey commemorates her two National Championship wins in 2000 and 2002 while Maya Moore’s will take fans back to her back-to-back National Championships in 2009 and 2010.

The release of these six legends’ collection of products represents the launching pad for the UConn Legends program. New players will continue to be added, each with their own unique replica jersey option representing their careers at UConn.  Husky fans can also expect additional licensees featuring new product categories and broader retail integration to be added to the program over the coming months.

“UConn is known as the ‘Basketball Capital of the World’ and this program is a celebration of every former player in the women’s and men’s programs who have made it that,” said Kevin Freeman, Associate Director of Athletics /Executive Director of the National C Club. “We look forward to honoring all of these former players with this unique collection and can’t wait for Husky fans of all ages and eras to be able to purchase a replica jersey or other commemorative item with the name and number of their favorite Husky, no matter when they wore the national flag blue and white.”

“We are extremely thrilled to add the UConn Legends Program to our expanding UConn NIL portfolio.  Each of these seven players’ careers at UConn were legendary and we are excited for UConn basketball fans to purchase their favorite legend’s jerseys and other commemorative items.  We look forward to adding more former UConn basketball athletes and expanding the product and retail mix soon,” commented Jim Neish, TBG’s Vice President of Licensing and Business Development.

The initial collection of UConn ‘Legends’ product will be available on-line through UConn’s official athletic store and Athlete’s Thread with more retailers and licensees rolling out in the near future.
